[Home Depot] Char-Broil The Big Easy Oil-Less Turkey Fryer $54 (Reg. 139.97) - YMMV

Char-Broil "The Big Easy" Oil-Less Turkey Fryer
Price Online $139.97
Regular Price In-Store: $124.00
Clearance Price: $54.00
Saw this in the Oshawa North store. I have no idea if other Home Depot stores are selling at the same price so YMMV.
Contemplating getting this as it doesn't use oil but propane powered infra-red instead.
Almost 500 reviews online at Home Depot giving it 4.8 out of 5 stars... People seem to love it.

I really want one of these but no stock in my local HD and no guarantee of the $54 price.

If we had the bar code... code... number code..... digits.... we could use the mobile app of HD to get the in-store prices.

I found the UPC online that will work to find out your local store's price
99143014807
Type that in the manual entry (when you use the Scan feature of the mobile app).
It will tell you the store price.
54$ confirmed for most of Montreal, quite a few units here and there.
Good hunting: I won't buy one because I don't fry anything like that.

Actually, I realize it doesn't use oil, how does it fry? I am very curious!

Yeah... I figured that, but... so it's not frying, frying = oil.
But people seem happy about it.
Now most of these people posted reviews in November after Thanks Giving (USA).
I am curious as to what else I could do on that thing for my family, 54$ is cheap!

In what store in MTL do you find it for $54?
I have tried several and they are listed at the original price. I am using the regular website, not the phone app.
Thanks,

It's sort of like those electric ActiFryers just propane powered. I suppose "frying" is subjective. A lot of people in the reviews do a lot of different roast meats in them.

That won't work, you need to use the phone app and it needs to be searched through the barcode scanning function.
I see you are in Repentigny.
Mascouche has 0 units
Anjou has 2 units at 54$
Laval has 6 at 54$
I gotta go, can't search more, good luck
I'm going to buy one.. I'm thinking CHICKEN AND DUCK

It appears just to be a terribly named product. It's really a turkey roaster. On one line it says it cooks the turkey just as fast as the traditional fryer, but then in the details it says it takes 8-10mins/LB. which is really the amount of time per pound you expect in a traditional oven. Normal turkey fryers take 3-4mins/LB I do believe.
The infrared heat circles the cooker to penetrate the meat evenly and seal in juices. The result is a bird that's moist inside and crispy outside but without the risk, hassle or added fat and calories of oil. Safely cook a turkey (up to 16 lbs.) or chicken in about 8 to 10 minutes per pound - no waiting for the oil to heat up. Roasts most other large cuts of meat cook for slightly longer.
Includes a cooking basket, basket lifting handle, drip pan liner and meat thermometer.
Enclosed burner design with 16,000 BTU's.
Rotary Ignition.
Cool-touch handles.
Pull-out grease tray.
Stainless steel cooking chamber.
Measures Approximately: 21.1" W x 20.7" D x 24.5" H.

My intent was to find other uses for this thing, but I just don't see it. I'm in the market for a cheap turkey fryer with a basket so that I can to the camping turkey for thanksgiving, and a poutine party at home.

First, Canadian Tire sells this rebranded under the Thermos name and puts it on deep discount every Fall so if you miss this deal watch for that one. And as far as other uses go I've used mine for wings that turned out amazing. In some of the forums people talk about using it for ribs that you hang from 'S' hooks. I did a roast beef in it. It turned out OK. It was cooked more on the outside portion than the center and I prefer roast cooked evenly rare all the way through. I think it's just a matter of setting the temp right. And yes, for a turkey it takes almost as long as in an oven but the result is far superior and, of course, if you're making a big family dinner your oven is free for potatoes and veggies.

Have a link for it or is this usually one of their "in-store only" deals? I don't see it on the CT website.

Big thanks OP. Picked up what appears to be the last one in Victoria (Shelbourne location as none at the Langford one).
Now it's time to convert it over to natural gas. Apparently it's quite a common and popular conversion. Anyone here done this? If so, please pm me with your methods. Cheers
Please don't ask or beg for "thanks". Don't act like this is Facebook. If someone found your post helpful, let them decide if they want to make that click. The more you beg, the less you'll get. Cheers
